This summer and fall, CBI is proud to have welcomed new staff along with new interns—starting in the summer, our intern David Beron has brought an innovative approach to community engagement, and Julia Dougherty, an M.A. student at Tufts in the Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning program, has just joined CBI as a graduate intern this fall. Below are our staff updates:
Anika Reynar has joined CBI as an Associate. She has a decade of experience in stakeholder engagement, collaborative process design, and participatory action research. Her work spans Canada, the United States, and Mexico, including projects with a focus on agricultural land use, affordable housing, natural and cultural resources, and Indigenous self-determination. Illustrious Ewhorlu has joined CBI as an Associate. His interests are in sustainability, international development, civic and community engagement, peace and conflict resolution, and international education. Prior to joining CBI, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Applied Economics Clinic (AEC) and as an Energy & Utilities Decarbonization Fellow at the University of New Hampshire. Abby Fullem is being promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. She has experience with local, state, and national projects pertaining to natural resources, land use, climate change, transportation, renewable energy, affordable housing, superfund clean-ups, drought, drinking water, and community safety. Sophie Carrillo-Mandel is being promoted from Associate to Senior Associate. She draws from extensive experience supporting public outreach and inter-organizational coordination to address complex water use issues, including managed aquifer recharge, statewide urban water use efficiency, sustainable groundwater management, and water quality monitoring. Senior Associate Elizabeth Cooper—whose work focuses especially on the intersections among climate change, environment and land use issues, and local planning and policy issues—is being promoted to Senior Mediator. Read more about Elizabeth here.
Senior Associate Elizabeth (Betsy) Fierman, Director of CBI’s Chile office, is being promoted to Senior Mediator. Read more about Betsy here.
Melanie Gárate, a Senior Associate at CBI, is continuing much of her work in the U.S. while also now residing in Chile and working closely with Betsy Fierman and David Plumb to advance our Chilean and Latin American portfolio. Read more about Melanie here.
