Over the last two years, CBI Senior Mediator Gina Bartlett has been working with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), along with private and public partners, to develop a Shoreline Plan for Lake Tahoe. The collaborative, holistic process aims to update the standards for shoreline structures while addressing environmental impacts, visual impacts, permitting processes, and creating temporary strategies for periods where the lake water level is low. Given the complexity of the issue, if passed, the Shoreline Plan would be the first update in 30 years.

On May 8, 2018, the TRPA released a draft environmental impact statement analyzing the  proposed Shoreline Plan. The public review period follows for the next two months, including two public meetings and opportunities to comment and ask for clarification.
