Maine's Offshore Wind Roadmap

"If you’re looking for a model for how to navigate a tricky public policy issue, check out Maine’s Offshore Wind Roadmap published this week,” says CBI’s David Plumb. “The state invested in meaningful dialogue about seizing the economic and renewable energy benefits of offshore wind, while tackling head-on the tough questions about the industry’s compatibility with the Gulf of Maine’s fishermen and unique ecosystem.”

Maine’s Offshore Wind Roadmap is the result of a process supported by CBI over 18 months that brought together a range of environmental, energy, fishing, economic, and other stakeholders. The Roadmap lays out specific actions for the state around workforce opportunities, ports investments, and energy procurement, as well as concrete steps to avoid or reduce potential negative impacts on the environment or fishing communities.
