CBI Facilitates IMF, World Bank, and UN Leadership Dialogue on Financing for Development

CBI Managing Director David Fairman is working with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the Boards of the World Bank and IMF to facilitate leadership dialogue on key financing for development issues:

  • managing developing countries’ debt levels to enable investments in sustainable development without jeopardizing creditworthiness;
  • supporting countries to increase tax revenues from domestic and international sources, including the digital economy; and
  • reducing illicit financial flows that deprive countries of resources for development.

UN Ambassadors met last week with counterpart Executive Directors at the IMF and World Bank in Washington, D.C., for dialogue in preparation for the April 2020 Financing for Development (FfD) Forum convened by the UN. David Fairman will also facilitate the High Level Meeting among leaders of the three institutions at the FfD Forum. This year’s dialogue process, including CBI’s work, is being supported by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, a German foundation.
